Sustainability encompasses various definitions and can be a subject of debate. However, In 1987, the UN defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”(www.un.org)
There are many references to the pillars and foundations of sustainability but in its simplest form we are looking at Economic, Social and Environmental. By adopting sustainable habits, we can reduce our impact on climate change, protect biodiversity, and ensure a better quality of life for all.
Our Carbon Footprint
The Agile Business Consortium is committed to support a sustainable future and we have made progress to reduce our carbon footprint by using recycled paper for our handbooks. Additionally, we advocate for a digital-first approach, urging employees to avoid unnecessary printing. When face-to-face meetings are necessary, we encourage the use of public transport or trains instead of planes. To support our global community, we have transitioned to virtual events and meet-ups, minimizing the environmental impact of travel. We have also become strategic partners with not-for-profit Green Project Management (GPM) Global aims to advance sustainable agile practices. By joining forces, we will work towards a sustainable world, in which organisations are both sustainable and agile, providing value without destroying resources, whilst adapting to challenging circumstances. Through these actions, we strive to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Carbon Balancing
Cactus Graphics offers carbon balancing schemes to help organisations towards being carbon neutral. Carbon balancing enables all individuals and organisations to make a conscious and responsible choice to offset their residual greenhouse gas emissions.
Paper purchased under the carbon offsetting initiative with Cactus Graphics has the amount of carbon used in the production process analysed and an associated cost for carbon offset is calculated. The contribution is then donated to The World Land Trust, Forest Carbon or the Woodland Trust who use this to protect endangered environments and plant new forest trees.
Awarded Certificates
The Agile Business Consortium has been awarded the following World Land Trust certificates, by using Carbon Balanced Paper for printing the Agile Project Management v2 Handbooks (English & Polish Editions).
