In 2019, Save the Children UK turned to Agile as a guiding philosophy to shape our new culture of work and approach to fundraising and marketing. As we laid the structural foundations, we also launched a culture change initiative that put diversity, inclusion, safety, transparency, collaboration, customer focus, and respect at the heart of how we work. The changes, while not always painless, have enabled a culture of ever greater experimentation, belonging, digitalisation and risk taking. Ruth will take you through the journey so far, and the lessons learned.

Roads and Transport Authority - The Path to A Future Proof organization is one that Builds Agility Into its DNA
8.40am – 9.10am GMT, 23 March 2023 ‐ 30 mins
Business Agility
Agility, at its core, is the ability to quickly and efficiently respond to internal and external changes by reconfiguring strategy, systems, processes and structure, reallocating resources and deploying technology towards creating and protecting opportunities that sustain customer-oriented values.
In order to be truly effective, agility must be woven into the very fabric of the organization, this is driven by leadership’s vision, and best achieved via a dual top-down and bottom-up full-scale approach. That approach embraces the principles of agility and makes them a fundamental part of the organization’s culture and way of working.
Join us to get a glimpse of RTA’s Agile journey, and some of the practical approaches that RTA, as a transport oriented government agency, employed to kick-start and sustain its agile culture and practices.

"We are good in making plans, but our execution could improve. The market and world are constantly changing and so are our clients’ needs." Herbert and Esmee are taking you along in Capgemini’s story full of lessons learned when colleagues from sales, delivery, HR and portfolio started working together in one team. This team started transforming and adopting an agile mindset, values, and principles with the aim to bring more value to their clients. Like with any transformation, obstacles became visible. Their story will provide insights on transcending organisational silos, foster cross-team learning, and help leaders bring out their inner Max Goodwin.
Esmee van de Giessen
Lead Agile Value Center NL, Enterprise Coach, Capgemini
Esmee is a catalyst, driving change with enthusiasm and with a strong belief that the sum of the whole is greater than its siloed parts. Graduated as Master in New Media & Digital Culture and trained as Enterprise Agile Coach, she has a unique background. After being a production assistant of large festivals and entertainer in Italy she got all into tech. Not so strange with her brother and dad bringing home gadgets and a fascination for the promising stories that came with them. Starting as a member of a scrum team her scope of impact increased throughout the years as product owner for sales solutions, (delivery -, people-, workforce-) manager, and Agile Coach.
All those experiences help her to walk the talk, transforming from the inside out. She loves using them to help an organizational part from c-level to operations make sense of their role in the whole. She uses the voice of the client as feedback while she coaches Capgemini NL adopting an agile mindset, values and principles to increase the value they deliver. “In the end, I am the instrument for change, the better I understand myself, the more in tune I can be with others.”

Business Agility
Get ready for an exhilarating ride! Join me as I take you through the ups and downs of our 18-month journey towards Business Transformation and Product Model overhaul at Elavon Europe. While we did some fancy and fun things along the way, there was one key realization that took me over a year to grasp: it's not about Agile.
But what is it about? Join me in a quick exercise where you'll spot the pattern that took me so long to realize. From there, I'll take you on a practical journey where I'll share examples of how we embraced customer-centricity, collaboration, and focus, and how these three things are at the core of every successful organization.
